Senneker Triggered Power Snares

Trapping Wolves is no easy thing.  This DVD is about 50. Cdn and Bryan and I have watched in 20 times or more.  We have had great success with this system and it takes the Wolf out in seconds.  There is very little struggling.  It involves 1/16 cable and tiny power triggers.  The only problem we have with the system is the camlock will freeze solid in a major mild. Last year we had 6, this year so far 3 major milds.  Soft catch traps are difficult if impossible to maintain in deep snow areas.  Also if we take an animal out it should go really quickly.

All of Us Off to the Inklin Line Cabin

Plus 4 C.  Bee's in her little carrying case, then put in a cloth shopping bag and then into a clear plastic over cover and then finally strapped onto the tundra with padding underneath.  The chickens are on their own for a few days.
We're all out of here.  This warm weather is letting us all leave without worry of the place freezing up.

Bryan gave a thumbs up....   look closely at the above picture.

Grizzly Bear Tracks Out in mid January...

Trip is 14 kms.  There were two small avalanches on the Inklin Cliff pass which it took 1/2 an hour to shovel away so that we could pass.  This mild weather has it's drawbacks.  We came across day old Grizzly tracks just in front of the cabin.  Bryan speculated that it might be a 4 year old on it's own for the first winter and what ever spot it picked for a den it could wet and came out.

WOLF ON ICE

This Wolf is just 200 feet away from Vikki.  It has found a old piece of dead Salmon in the frozen ice.  Vikki called out to it to see if it would raise it's head.  Her voice echoed in the Mountains and that Wolf didn't care.

Snowed 2" this morning.  First snow for along time.  Bryan is heading back to camp this morning by quad.  He's finished trail cutting for the week.  He has to get back here before the big snow comes.  As Vikki looks out of the window right now she can see the snow starting again.

SOLAR FENCE BROKEN BY WOLF???

Vikki noticed that the solar electric fence was down at the back gate. She turned off the power and walked the outside of the fence and came upon the broken electric rope.  She walked further and found a strip of chewed electric ribbon.  There were no obvious tracks because there is hardly any snow on the ground.  She walked the whole area at the back and could find no tracks of a bear.... just Wolf tracks.

Wolves Come Right to Fence

Vikki went out to cut wild hay for the winter trapping and the chickens and found that the Wolf pack had come right up to the electric fence.  It's a big pack.
Talking to Bryan on the SBX radio last night he also said the Wolf pack howled for 2 hours yesterday afternoon within a km of him.  He kept on telling Ishi..... "That the Boogie Wolf"
