Bryan had a great Trapline Run

Vikki has to say she did not want to Post... but thank you all for your support and she knows this feeling of hurt will pass.  Bryan got back last night with the camera full of neat stuff.  We are still learning how to do the videos so please bear with us. The first one is of an American Dipper (Water Oslo) on the Inklin River.  This little bird stays up here all winter.... it can be seen at -30 c still looking for open water.

Video of Ishi jumping off cabin roof after stick

PUSH SQUARE ON RIGHT HAND CORNER AND IT BLOWS UP THE SCREEN...Ishi jumps right off the cabin roof into the fresh snow and disappears after the thrown stick.  Bryan said she was in mid air 8 feet and totally disappeared.  He was amazed she didn't run down the packed snow...  No, she just took a running jump.  She did it twice.  This is the second time. Bryan got off the roof and ran to get the video camera.  Both of us couldn't stop laughing.  Ishi would have done it all day long.

Ishi Backtracks Lost Vikki

On the SBX-11A check-in tonight Bryan said it was a good run.  4 Marten and a really nice red/silver X Fox.  He said lots of Wolf tracks down by Burl Creek.
Vikki asked "How did Ishi like me leaving????"  "Well,  I stopped for re-scenting and Ishi always jumps off and sniffs around.  Well, off I went expecting her to run after.   I finally looked behind and "WHAT THE HEC!!!"  I sat there for 5 minutes and finally turned "Miss Piggy" around.  After a bit, here she came "looking shamefaced".  I think she must have run all the way down to the Beaver Ponds."
Vikki said "  I knew she would be concerned, she's a working dog (Border Collie/Blue Healer) and part of the pack had gone missing."   Vikki thinks she ran right down to the lake and couldn't see anything moving and then headed the 4 km back up to met Bryan.  Boy, will she be tired tonight.

Marten, Ishi and Bryan fixes the Generator

While Bryan was rebuilding the bed in the linecabin down on the Inklin, Ishi was outside bringing a collection of throwing sticks for when Bryan came out.  There she was sitting patiently.... waiting with all her finds.
Tracks of otter and rabbits.  Bryan also say a Beaver sitting out on the ice.  Lots of Moose tracks, Fisher tracks, Rabbit tracks and Marten.

As daylight was going fast, Bryan drained the Honda generator encase it was dirt that was the problem.  Then he checked the spark plug.... right away he saw the problem.  That new spark plug had a solid piece shorting it out.  He replaced the spark plug and it started right up.

There is Sun Out There.

Bryan found the Sun and was so impressed he stopped took a picture and had a coffee in it.   Up in the high Walkers Valley and down on the Sutlahine there is sun for 4 hours a day.
Vikki has gotten out the bottle of Vitamin D supplement and both will start to take it all winter long.  We were worried at first about the lack of sunlight making a depressed mind but it has only happened a couple of times to Vikki when she is stuck in the cabin for a couple of months.  Soon she will be out on the trap line each day with Bryan.

Ishi the Fearless Mouse Killer

Down at the Line Wall Tent last week Bryan said a really funny thing happened.  He was laying on the bed reading his Kobo and there was a candle on the small table.  Bryan became aware of movement.  There on the table was a mouse.
Bryan nudged Ishi beside him and pointed...   Off went Ishi faster than crazy.  Bryan was amazed.  Ishi ran round and round the wood stove (Bryan all the while thinking it was going to be nocked over....  then Ishi had the mouse in the wood pile and was pulling the logs out with her teeth.  Finally she started to pounce over and over again with her feet.  Bryan went over and there was one dead mouse and Ishi looking at Bryan out of the corner of her eyes..... "Did I do well????
